When Women Gather in NG7

Updated: Feb 17

We are delighted to announce that we have received funding support from Near Neighbours to plan and deliver our project, 'When Women Gather in NG7'.

This project will recognise that women residing in all communities and of all faiths are the backbone of society, and are the catalyst for communication, collaboration and change. This project is for women living in and around the NG7 area of Nottingham to come together for friendship and networking, and also to build connections for potential future community collaborations.

Our first meet-up will be at the New Art Exchange cafe on Friday 12th November 2021, 1030am-12pm, and then alternate Fridays from then on. On Friday, 26th November, New Art Exchange are providing complimentary tea/coffee for us and will talk to the women about what they offer as a resource in the community. We will also explore the current exhibition.

One of the ideas for the Friday meet-ups is to have women from different faith/ethnic communities potentially 'lead' the session by taking the group to local shops or places of interest, so that those connections are made and any barriers perceived to entering those spaces are broken down. We also have a couple of fun, family activities planned for early next year, where women will be welcome to bring their children along - most likely creating art at a family session run by NAE one Saturday morning and planting bulbs at the allotment gardens in Aspley.

We are thrilled to be able to provide these opportunities for connection and friendship.
