Announcing our arts & wellbeing project - Voices of Identity

After careful consultation with women in our community, we have planned a multidisciplinary arts project, including art forms that will stimulate us in exploring our personal and shared 'identities'.

We have curated an exciting line-up of workshop creative practitioners to deliver our various strands of programmes:

- Exploratory drama with Leanda 'Rastarella' Falade

- Frame drumming with Jude Winwood & Asif Qu

- Brazilian folk dances with Tatiana Woolley (Samba/Maracatu/Forro)

- North African & Middle Eastern dances with Janet Rose

- Drama workshops with Ines Sampaio (Monologues/performance skills/breath work/voice work/spoken word)

All workshops are free of charge to take part in and are for women only.

For now, please visit the 'Events' section on our Facebook page to join the sessions you'd like to take part in. Here's a link to our page - click here Here, you'll find Zoom link details.

We remain optimistic with regards to performing our final creative 'pieces' at Nottingham Playhouse in August 2020. Capturing the magical moments of our project's community creativity will be Ursula and Jim from Studio Softbox. We'll be leaving a cultural legacy of Voices of Identity through a short film, showcasing participants' learning journeys from beginning to end...and beyond!

The creative and communication hub for our project is through our Facebook group. Find the group on Facebook and join us for friendship, stimulating and creative conversations and lots of cultural insights. Here's a link to take you straight to the group - Voices of Identity.

We aim to inspire more women to seek out opportunities to be involved in the creative arts.

We're looking forward to sharing progress as we embark upon our music-making, dance and drama explorations.

Thanks to Arts Council England for kindly supporting our project.
