Happy Friends Laughing

Arts / Wellbeing / Education

Community arts and wellbeing interventions for women, to improve social inclusion and mental health, through workshops, events, and education programmes.
We are a not-for-profit community group that prides itself on providing wellbeing enhancing opportunities that tackle loneliness and heighten a sense of community and unity.

Supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, Groundwork, Comic Relief, and Arts Council England, the When Women Gather team quickly took action at the beginning of the pandemic to move workshops and events to an online platform, creating The Wellbeing Sessions and other engaging arts and wellbeing projects.

We are proud to say that our online community has grown, and we continue to provide online workshops and talks that focus on enhancing women’s physical, mental, and emotional health and resilience.

We are guided by our service users’ needs and through Zoom sessions and ‘live’ posts we are able to bring women of all backgrounds together to tackle the growing epidemic of loneliness and declining mental health.

Wellbeing on all levels is at the heart of what we do, and we strive to support all women. One online event attendee said “I have made new friends through your talks and friendly online communities, where we can talk with each other about things that matter to us all. Everything has been so interesting to take part in and I feel like a valued member of what you’re doing. Thank you.”

“What a great gathering! Thanks for all the work making it happen.”

“A great way of having fun together. Thank you for a lovely evening!”

“I loved meeting new friends and knowing that I was a valued member of the group. I can’t wait for the next meet-up.”

“You’ve helped me to make new friends and rediscover my love of dancing. I don’t feel so lonely, knowing that I belong to this community.”
